- Aim
- Identify publicly accessible scholarly manuscripts and preprints that directly analyse the 26 August 2026 Nepal–Tibet glacier-related hazard cascade.
- Source and interface
- OpenAlex; Crossref; EarthArXiv — OpenAlex Works API; Crossref REST API; EarthArXiv repository records
- Search method
- Submit each of eight exact query strings to the OpenAlex Works API through the search parameter with filter=from_publication_date:2026-08-26,to_publication_date:2026-09-04 and per-page=100, and to the Crossref REST API through query.bibliographic with filter=from-pub-date:2026-08-26,until-pub-date:2026-09-04 and rows=100: "26 August 2026" Nepal flood; "Rasuwa flood" 2026; "Bhote Koshi" flood 2026; Bhotekoshi flood 2026; Gyirong debris flow 2026; Jilong debris flow 2026; "Langtang Lirung" flood 2026; and "Nepal Tibet" glacier avalanche 2026. Deduplicate candidate records by DOI, then inspect the authoritative repository record, structured metadata, version history, and current PDF for each eligible manuscript. An initial Crossref request that included the unsupported selected field subtype was rejected; it returned no result data and was rerun with valid fields.
- Criteria
Date range 26 August through 4 September 2026. Include scholarly manuscripts or preprints with substantive analysis of the event and public full text, in any language. Exclude journalism, news-format records, resources ending before the event without event-specific analysis, duplicates, and inaccessible full text. Treat linked standalone data or code deposits as separate resources for a repository-focused run. - Coverage
- OpenAlex and Crossref index coverage available on 4 September 2026 was searched without a language filter. OpenAlex returned zero records for all eight queries. The first 100 fuzzy-ranked Crossref records for each query were screened, and event-plausible matches were checked in detail against authoritative metadata or repository pages.
- Stopping rule
- Stop after exhausting the OpenAlex response for every query and screening the first 100 ranked Crossref records for each query; deduplicate by DOI; then stop candidate verification after every event-plausible title and source match in those 800 rows has been resolved against authoritative records.
- Result
Nine distinct event-plausible records were assessed. Four EarthArXiv preprints met the criteria and were added as reviewed resources with their current PDF assets. Two The Conversation articles and two Science news-format records were excluded as journalism or news, and one Langtang glacier-history article was excluded because its observations ended in 2023 and it did not study the 2026 event. Three linked data or code deposits were noted but not added because they are separate repository resources for a future data-focused run.
