Open data cannot distinguish an avalanche-emplaced debris flow from rapid debris-dam release as the initial wave; the reported volume-equivalent scale assumes a one-to-five-metre affected-layer thickness and is not a source-volume estimate.
Limitations
No public post-event high-resolution elevation model was available; monsoon cloud prevented post-event optical analysis, post-event SAR coverage was limited to one acquisition, and seasonal surface change could not be fully excluded.
